THE .JUNIOR FOOTBALL TEAM HEADS TO THE GB FINALS
The Junior Football Team started the season with 45 players. As the roster was trimmed a lean and mean football machine developed. The Offense ran three different systems, from 1 formation to Pro and mixed in a little of the wishbone. The rock soild defense set the stage for success led by Alex Beduz, Andrew Stephens and Dave Simpson.
The owls experienced success early on in the season and seemed unstoppable. However, as things progressed the competition become fiercer and eveyone would experience some character development. Boys turned to men as things went on and the coaches rallied behind the leadership of the rookie sensations, Scott Bishop and Matt Harris. The team finshed the season with a record of 3-2. In the quarterfinals they met their rivals from Stayner and despite the fact that they were losing at the half they came back and won by a score of 12-8. They would go on to meet Innisdale who had beat them in the regular season. The squad practised and perfected their Offensive and Defensive attack and within 2 minutes of the opening kick, having recovered a 30 yard kick scored a Touchdown humbling the Invaders. As the game went on. Innisdale realized that they had a battle on their hands. At the half with 5 seconds to go, Dave Simpson ran out of a power 44 with dedicated lead blocks by Alex beduz and Steve Arthur to score putting CCI ahead. In the closing quarters of the game despite numerous attempts and a committed defense CCI could not go ahead and the game closed with the score of 21-20. Special thanks to the players who gave everything and found something else to give when it seemed as though there was no more.
