FALL SPORTS TEAMS
BRING HOME GB TITLES
This year's Cross-Country season was one of the best in recent memory. This
was a team that truly practised like it performed on race day and that approach led to a fun-filled couple of months and some wonderful results. The season featured four Simcoe County league meets and by season's end the Owls placed second overall out of the 25 county teams - only four points out of ftrst place. Then, at the GBSSA Championships at Hardwood Hills, C.C.I. put forth an impressive overall team performance as the squad captured 4th place in the meet that featured teams for Alliston and all the way north to South River. Jay Morill came away with a GB Championship in the Junior Boys' race, Mike Rego was 3rd in Midget Boys and th Senior Girls Team of Jen Buie who was 7th and Jen Davis, Corinne Hildebrant, Erin Buie and Mandy Thompson was 2nd in their race. All of these individuals then qualified for the OFSAA Championships in Ottawa. Other highlights included the Midget Boys who were 4th, the Senior Boys who soared to 5th, the Junior Boys who were 6th and the C.C.I.'s Midget Girls ran to a 9th place finish. At OFSAA, C.C.I.'s success continued with Jay Morill capturing his second consecutive Gold medal at the all-Ontario Championships. This year's success came in Jay's debut as a Junior Boy, a category he will be in next year as well. Also, the Senior Girls did C.C.I. proud ftnishing 13th out of Ontario's best 36 Senior Girl Squads. This team also holds potential as most of the team was actually first year Juniors and will be back next year. In their best game of the season, the Senior Owls out hustled and outgunned a talente squad from St. Joseph's. The final game was all Collingwood Final- CCI vs. Jean Vanier.
