    l'he Collingwood Senior Girls Basketball Team had an outstanding season 2001. The Collingwood Seniors finished with 25 victories against 6 defeats er the season. , captured the GBSSA championship, nd competed in the arter finals of the "AAAA" OFSAA (the highest level in Ontario. The Lcing in OFSAA would rank the senior girls as one of the top eight teams in :province. During the seaon CCI captured the Orillia Blackball Tournament, 10 the Fater Leo Austin Invitational in Whitby; were the finalists in the York Lversity Tournament, defeated the second and fourth ranked teams from ronto, and did not lose a game to any team from Simcoe County or Georgian y. The Senior Owls dominated the opposition in the GB semi-final and al games, CCI defeated Barrie-Innisdale in the GB final 59-42. To reach :final 8 in OFSAA, CCI defeated the strong Guelph St. James team ranked 1 in the province by the score of 62-33 .
~ckball MVP and York University All-Star Jodie Switzer led the owls in Jring and steals and was one of our three co-captains. Co-captain Jessica eitenfeld was the Chairman of the Boards as the leading rebounder for the vis including 16 in one game at OFSAA. York University and Blackball !-star Nicole Trott was the second leading scorer and rebounder, and was excellent defender while Stacy VanBoxmeer was the point on the vaunted vi full-court press, was the operator of the Owl offense and was the defensive ,der. Co-captain and York University All-Star Cheryl Kemsley was another ·ce on the boards, and provided leadership for the CCI seniors. Blackball !-Star Kristy McLaughlin was the most improved player and was on the >nt line on the press. Aleda Carr was one of the best Owls shooters, Jen Buie .s the second line point guard who controlled the offense, .and Courtney 1vidson was the second line Chairman of the Boards. Joanna Bennett was a ee-point specialist with quick feet on the press, with Katie Lloyd providing Jring and strong defense. Stephanie Bevan was a pure shooter, with Lisa aw providing rebounding strength off the bench.
e 2001 edition of the CCI Senior Girls Basketball was the best Senior Girls sketball team ever to hit the hardwood at Collingwood Collegiate.
