T h e CCI Jumor Grrls Basketball team won the AAAA GBSSA Championships for the third straight year.
The season started slowly with a first league game loss in overtime to Barrie Bear Creek. The team avenged this loss in their last game of the season by defeating Bear Creek 38-31 in the GBSSA final game.
Between these two games the team demonstrated great indi- vidual and team improvement. The team captured the second place slot in the 24 team Univer- sity of Toronto Basketball Festival, and proved to be poor hosts in winning the CCI
Invitational tournament, in three straight tournament games.
The team was led this season by its six second year players. Jasmine Cuff, Chelsea Stoklas, Katie Bell, and Paige Meesters provided much of the scoring punch and rebounding, while Michaela Dance and Katlin Garbutt were exceptional on defence and ball control in the backcourt.
Several promising grade nine players are returning to the team for next season and look forward to defending the championship in 2004. Great season girls!!!!
