The Collingwood Collegiate Fighting Owls Cross-Country Running team once again proved they are the team to beat during the 2012 season. The season began with a setback as the Owls finished 2nd as
an overall team at the league-opener in Barrie, snapping a consecutive string of 40 league meet victories. However, the Owls dug in their
talons to sweep the rest of the season to capture their 11th straight Golden Boot as Simcoe County Champions. They now have won 43 of the last 44 meets The Black Sea then went on to place 3rd overall as a team at the GBSSA Championships which C.C.I. hosted at Highlands Nordic in Duntroon. This was the 9th straight year Collingwood Collegiate has finished on the podium as an overall team at GB's. Heidi Ohrling was a GB Champion in the Midget Girls race while the Junior Girls team made up of Paige Foxcroft, Alex Stukator, Noah Bridson, Conner Hollingshead, Kyla Wills and Leah Marsot-Shiffman all finished
among the top 18 runners in their race to dominate as GBSSA Champs. Zack Hannon then grabbed a berth to OFSAA as he was 2nd in Senior Boys. At OFSAA at Heart Lake the Owls again showed they belong with the best in Ontario as Heidi led the way with an outstanding bronze medal performance in the Midget Girls race finishing 3rd out of 280 of the province's best. Zack Hannon was also outstanding as he finished 28thoutof280SeniorBoys. In allitwasagreatseasonandtheOwls look forward to dominating the trails and hills again next fall as the school's most spirited team strides towards its 12th consecutive Golden Boot!
