DRAMA CLUB 2
81
Persons who ·join the Drama Club are always in a hurry to do their first play. It would be much better (and all the members of the club realize this ) tha t to make a suc-
cess of a play we should have some simple lessons in stage procedure before attempting any play. It is our aim to give and take these lessons, such as, learning to walk on
the stage properly, the proper method of moving the hands, proper method of speaking , etc . So you see the Drama Club does not want to become a club just doing "plays", it wants
to become a club learning something to. benefit the person belonging to the club. If we have members who are inter- ested in a particular branch of drama we can obtain almost any ·information that member desires . It is well to remem- ber that to have a good drama club the first thing to do is not a play, any more than the first thing a rugby player does is to go out and playa game against a rival school the first time he is on the field.
Some will wonder why the foregoing is in this write- up. It 1-s there so you can see what we are up against and whnt·we want the Drama Club to be.
The first major event that the Drama Club took part in this year was the entertainment at the Harvest Hop. The
club was informed at a rather late date that it was to sup- ply entertainment and it was decided that individual acts could be presented much better than group work. For a
