INTERMEDIATE BASKETBALL
BACK ROW: Mr. Aikens, Marinus Verwey, Pat McHaffie, Don Gallacher, Jack Bouwkamp, Mr.
Tetzner, Doug Mayer. FRONT ROW: Herb Burnett, Ian Tudor, Roger Edwards, Kim Tranter, Steve Mitchell, Russell Poste, Rick McCutcheon, Rob McPherson.
The Intermediate Team had a very good season playing eighteen games, winning eleven and losing seven. We also travelled to two tournaments, one in Parry Sound and the other in Stayner. Speaking of Stayner, we beat our rival school three times straight. "Yeah Stayner! Keep coming up with those losses."
The "Hustlers" showed great strength and ability in pre-season exhibition games, winning four out of four. Our winning streak did not last and we lost the first regular season game to Base Borden. The "Hustlers" came back and after a tough season, ended up in fourth place, qualifying for the semi-finals against Barrie Central.
After losing to Central twice in the regular season play, Collingwood won the first of two total point games by a score of 53-50. Carrying a three point lead into Barrie, the team looked sharp trailing Barrie by only 5 points. Unfortunately, by the end of the game the 5 points had doubled and the final score was 47-37 for Central.
However, we did not let the season go by without scoring our share of points. Our top scorer was Captain Don Gallacher who scored a total of 311 points with a high of 31 points in one game. Jack Bouwkamp was second in standing scoring 20 points in one game and 210 for the season. Pat McHaffie was third man scoring a total of 121 points.
Many thanks go to Mr. Aikens and Mr. Tetzner for giving their time and skill to coach this year's team.
