This year, the school had only one soccer team instead of the usual two teams. There were only four seniors trying out for the senior team, so Mr. Beckett decided that the junior and intermediate aged players would help to form the one senior team.
But it was a short season for the soccer team because they only played two games. The reason for this was that there was only one other school in our zone that had a senior team.
In a two out of three games series, Barrie Central travelled to Collingwood, where they defeated us by a score of 3-0. In the next game at Barrie, Collingwood was hoping to tie the series up, but their hopes were shattered when they lost 6-0.
Players who rate mention for Collingwood are Emil Lubasz, Don Kerr and Aleksander Antoniuk. All of these players will be back next year, along with the younger players who have gained some experience and confidence. So we can look forward to a more successful season next year.
Thanks goes to Mr. Beckett for the time and effort he gave in coaching the team during the year.
