Junior Football
The 1984 edition of the Junior Fighting Owls ended the season with
a three win, three loss record. This does not properly reflect the quality of the team. The team had strong showings in each of their games and could very easily have posted a much better record. However, a 500 season is quite respectable in most leagues.
This year the team was led offensively by third year quarterback Terry McEachern who consistently ran for good yardage. Gilbert Charles gave strong performances both defensively, offensively and as our kicking specialist. Other standouts on offense were Derek Fryer, Richard Lewis, Dave Martin, Ron Mathers, Todd Arnott, Trevor McKean, Ed Brown, Rob Buchanan, and Dean Lockhart to name but
a few.
The strong play by our defense was led by veteran linemen John
Lalonde and Wayne Freethy. They were backed up by defensive back Tim Edwards, and linebackers Charles Windebank and Todd G u z z - well. Our other stalwarts on defense included Jeremy Buchan, Shane Scott, Steve Scott, Terry Miller, and Kenton McKean. The above mentioned names are a few of the 1984 gridiron stars. In the photo, you will see more C.C.I. pigskin pugilists. The future of the junior Fighting Owls looks promising with many fine players returning next year for another campaign. The coaches Mr Edwards, Mr. Purdy and Mr. Stewart would like to thank all players for a memorable and successful season.
