                      1988 marks the third annual 'History Whiz Quiz'. Sponsored by e C.C.I. History department and involvihg 50 students from the Jementary schools in Area 4, the game highlighted major themes Canadian history and current international affairs. An added ture this year revolved around. the 1988 Winter Olympic games Calgary. The quiz was based on the premises that "The Past Is o Be Remembered". Accordingly, the game illustrated to its par- 'cipants that history could be researched, remembered and ·scussed in a spirit offun and great anticipation. The following hools comprised this year's participants: Admiral Collingwood, Syng, Byrnes Avenue, Connaught, Duntroon, New Lowell, Not- ~wasaga, Creemore and Oxbow Park. udents that assisted in making this annual event so successful!
Thanks to the C.C.I. Press Club, news within the school appeared in our local newspaper on a regular basis. Under the guidance of Mr. Gardiner, the students gained first-hand experience in journalism writing. This year's members included: Jeff Stran- sky, Paul Coleman, Sue Caughill (pictured) as well as Tammy Ward and Mike Mazur.
p UBLIC SPEAKING
This year there were six students involved in the public speaking con- tests. Sherri Black, Elise Croll and Tanya Cook represented C.C.I. at the Legion contest. Elise won her division and went on to compete at zone level. Paul Coleman, Rachelle Deshaies and Christine Lowe represented our school at the Lion's Club Effective Speaking Contest.
All students who panicipated did an excellent job of representing the black and gold and are to be commended for their effects. The staff adviser for this superb team was Mr. Field.
L IBRARY CLUB
The 1987-88 Library Club was a small group of dedicated students, whose help was invaluable to the library staff and users. Longstanding members Richard Quinn, Esther Miles, Cindy McLeod and Doug Birtles were joined by Christihe Lowe, Dan Pohl, Steve Browne, Ryan Brown, Marc Denbok and Matt MacLean.
