In 1977, a young and mild- mannered man by the name of Ralph Sneyd came to CCI from Northview Heights Collegiate. During
this year. he began what has come to be known as one of the most recognized and established wrestling programs in the province of Ontario. During his tenure as coach of the CCI Fighting Owls and Collingwood Wrestling Club. Mr. Sneyd has compiled an astound- ing array of memories and adventures both at the events and on the way to the events. As a person, words can not begin to describe this man. As a coach, his numbers speak for themselves. In the 23 years Mr. Sneyd has coached at CCI, he has produced many quality athletes. Here are just a few of the highlights from these years: more han 40 individual GBSSA Champions, 3 GBSSA Team Champion- ships, 4 individual OFSAA Champions with several other top 6 fin-
ishers, I 4'" and 5'" place OFSAA team plac- ing, more than I0 provincial champions, 6 National champions and 2 World Cadet Sil- ver Medallists. There are not too many other oaches who can boast this record. Not only does this man love to coach, he also enjoys hosting events. n the past, Mr. Sneyd has successfully ran the following prestigious events: '86 Canadian Schoolboy Champion-
ships, '87 World Cadet/ Junior Championships, '91 Ontario Winter Games. In recognition of these events, and for his love and dedication
to the sport of wrestling, Mr. Sneyd was pre- sented with one of the highest awards of dis- tinction for wrestling- the Fila Gold Star. To many of his athletes, Mr. Sneyd has been more than just a coach.. Through his sense of caring and understanding, he has also played a role as a mentor, role model, surrogate father, some- times doctor, colleague, and most of all, a great friend. We are all very grateful to have had the
opportunity to have him play a significant part in our lives. Mr. Sneyd, we would like to con- gratulate you for all that you have done for us, the athletes, CCI and the community ofColling- wood. Best wishes in your retirement.
