What time were the morning practices?
Finally, after years of longing and speculation CCI iced a Boy's Hockey Team. The season began way back in May during a four session talent evaluation camp where roughly 45 hockey players tried to impress the coaching staff with their skills.
The team got off to a great start, romping to victory in their first ever game, against Grey Highlands at the Eddie Bush Arena. After the initial win, however, the squad was repeatedly schooled in what it takes to be successful at the high school level. Fortunately, by the time the regular season arrived, the lessons had been well learned. At the season's end the squad was a very respectable 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie.
This year's club played an aggressive fore-checking style that was attempted to pressure the puck in all threee zones on the ice. Opponents had lots of trouble with CCI's cycling down low and the hyper aggressive penalty kill. After a successful run at the Beatrice Ice Gardens February tourna- ment, losing in the finals, the Owls could not escape the GBSSA semi-final match against Bracebridge. After such a fantastic inaugural season, this team is looking forward to a long run as one of the premier winter sports at CCI.
